Description of the exhibition

The MoMu collection consists of approximately 25,000 objects including clothing and accessories - 7,000 of which have been added over the past five years thanks to new purchases, donations, and long-term loans. In addition to historic pieces, MoMu's acquisition policy primarily focuses on purchasing pieces by contemporary Belgian designers whose silhouettes are examples of excellent craftsmanship, bold concepts and avant-garde shapes. All of these elements are part of the central theme in MoMu Now.

The exhibited selection includes silhouettes from notable Belgian names such as Raf Simons, Haider Ackermann, A.F. Vandevorst, Walter Van Beirendonck, Veronique Branquinho, and Ann Demeulemeester, as well as younger talents including Christian Wijnants and Peter Pilotto standing alongside silhouettes donated by major foreign fashion houses (including Balenciaga and Helmut Lang). As a result of MoMu's growing international network, there have been donations from foreign fashion houses and long-term loans from iconic Antwerp individuals and private collections. Several important silhouettes have been acquired, including those from Raf Simons for the French fashion house Christian Dior, through the museum's circle of friends, MoMu+Friends.

The exhibition features silhouettes by Raf Simons, Haider Ackermann, Walter Van Beirendonck, Veronique Branquinho, A.F. Vandevorst, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Christian Wijnants, Delvaux, Peter Pilotto, Bernhard Willhelm, Maison Martin Margiela, Balenciaga, Helmut Lang, Christian Dior, and Jil Sander.
