This masterclass draws inspiration from the exhibition Fashion & Interiors. A Gendered Affair. During the 19th century, garments were often richly decorated with galloon, fringes and cords.
This masterclass focuses on the use of cord, combined with fine pearls to create elegant structures and decorative accents. You will learn to use cord in a refined way and enrich it with pearls, inspired by an ensemble from the MoMu-collection. At the end of this master class, you will have a handmade ornament that you can attach to a garment or incorporate into a stylish brooch.

Kenny Damian is a textile restorer and freelance embroiderer. She has studied various hand embroidery techniques such as aari embroidery, Kutch (India) embroidery, gold and bead embroidery and needlepoint lace. She has learned these techniques and skills directly from embroiderers and through classes at home and abroad. She applies the techniques individually or in combination, and in both contemporary and historic designs.
Because I find it important not only to preserve the objects, but also not to lose the knowledge and the different techniques in which they were made, I started to learn different embroidery techniques.
The lunch break is scheduled between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM. There are various options for lunch in the local vicinity, including MoMu Café.
