With 1 ticket, you can visit all participating museums during Ensor Night: MoMu, FOMU, KMSKA and Museum Plantin-Moretus.
Experience an unforgettable Ensor Night at MoMu, FOMU, KMSKA and Museum Plantin-Moretus. In MoMu, the Afrocentric curatorial collective Som·m·e Of Us invites several Black (queer) artists for an inspiring evening. The programme includes a screening-performance and Belgian film premiere of fashion film YARDIE: ReDEFINED, next to DJ sets and live performances by Missy Da Kunt, SHADEDBYNATURE, Yav, LEGOLANE, and Jazz Sanusi.
By showcasing the creativity of Black artists and the way in which they question the western societal norms of gender and sexuality, the curatorial collective aims to engage in an artistic conversation with Belgian artist James Ensor's work. This initiative seeks to challenge gender norms and celebrate the intersectionality of Black and Afrodescendant identities.
The event will also highlight the craft of make-up and hair by featuring Black Belgian make-up artists and hair architects Axelle Husikama, Jela Jahina, and Hady-Salomé Dahan.
Danny Bailey's YARDIE: ReDEFINED (screening-performance)
YARDIE: ReDEFINED is a multimedia live performance, installation, and film screening that challenges societal perceptions of gender, using dancehall, sound system culture, and Yardie traditions as its lens. By blending Afro-Carribbean dance, fashion, installation art, and film, the performance invites audiences to critically examine the toxicity of rigid gender binaries globally but specifically within Black communities. It encourages a reimagining of gender identities, with a focus on celebrating queerness, a presence often marginalised or condemned within these cultural spaces to redefine YARDIE.
The Palace Of The Dogs founder Danny Bailey is a multidisciplinary artist and professional performer, using film and performance to empower underprivileged communities and promote inclusivity in the arts.
Performers: Jhaya Caupenne, Kassy Bondoko, Pedro AGR & Gianni Smith
The screening-performance YARDIE: ReDEFINED contains themes of homophobia and racism, as well as visuals of nudity. Viewer discretion is advised.

Yav, originally from Congo, is a singer and songwriter, producer, movement artist and model. The multidisciplinary artist took part in Black Is King, a film by Beyoncé, as choreographer and dancer, and has also worked as a movement director for Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Daily Paper.
