This spring, MoMu called on young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to share their most creative make-up looks. The ten selected young people were invited for a workshop with Naomi Waku. In August, the young talents gathered at DE SINGEL to create a new make-up look inspired by the work of James Ensor. The process and final results were filmed and photographed in detail and will be revealed on 5 October.

Panel talk

The young talents will engage with professionals from the make-up, fashion and art worlds including Inge Grognard, Bianca Quets Luzi, Stef Van Looveren, Karla Q Leon, Sandrine Coutelier, Naomi Waku and Dennis Heyndrickx during a panel talk.

IKRAAAN

IKRAAAN

No one does what IKRAAAN does. Inspired by artists like Tupac, she developed her own dreamy singing style at a young age, blending Dutch and Somali. Her music touches on deeply personal themes such as being different and overcoming obstacles. In her work, she embraces both dark periods and her inner strength.

Quatsch Collective
Kyky

Quatsch Collective

Quatsch Collective is a queer artist group from Antwerp, emerging from the underground scene. Their name, ‘Quatsch,’ meaning ‘nonsense’ in German, reflects their eclectic style. For MoMu, the performers—the creepy Omega, the enigmatic HannaH Stamina, and the campy Miss Ditniet—will bring show that blends contemporary internet culture with classic references to Ensor.

Alter Ensor at DE SINGEL

On 19 August, the young talents gathered at DE SINGEL to work with Naomi Waku to create a new make-up design inspired by the work of James Ensor, followed by a professional photoshoot.

Alter Ensor at Arenberg

After the screening event at MoMu, Alter Ensor will hold halt at Arenberg, where you can discover the photos and videos of the young make-up talents' final creations from 13 October to 24 November.
